Soap and Glory Make Up Review

When I first heard Soap & Glory were bringing out a make up range I was a bit dubious and reluctant to buy it. I think companies should generally stick to what they know, and I love their body range so much that I didn’t want a poor make up line to ruin my impression of the brand. When I saw the make up, however, I was drawn in by the gorgeous packaging, and since then I’ve bought a few things which I thought I’d do a little review of for you!

Soap & Glory make up

Lip Products

Soap & Glory Sexy MotherPucker lip gloss

Sexy MotherPucker lip glosses

These have actually been out for a while – they used to stock them with the body lotions, but now keep them with the make up. This might go some way to explaining why I have so many! These are a real love or hate lip gloss – they’re quite sticky when you first put them on, but dry to give an almost glassy finish. Then, obviously, there’s the fact that they are lip plumpers, so they tingle, especially if you drink water. Some people might hate this; I actually love it to the point where I find it quite addictive! They do tend to leave a bit of a weird residue on your lips which you have to wash off before reapplying, which is their only fault. The colours I have here are, from left to right, Punch Bowl, Candy Gloss, Super Starry, What A Melon and Pink Apricot. They’re all quite sheer but the darker colours do give a lovely finish.

Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss stick

I only have one of these, in the colour nude. I’ve never actually seen a pencil which comes out as a proper gloss – it’s very strange the first time you use it! It’s a good product, although the colour is a lot lighter on the lips than I thought it would be – I’d like to try a few more colours before I give a full verdict.

Mighty Mouth lip gloss

I think this lipgloss might be discontinued, which makes me mighty sad (see what I did there?!) because again it’s tingly, and gives a gorgeous peachy gloss.

Face Products

Love At First Blush

Okay, can we just take a minute to discuss how this is the most beautiful blusher you’ve ever seen in your life?! Just look at it! How is anyone meant to resist that?! I wish I loved the product as much as I love how it looks, but I don’t…obviously, you’re meant to use all the colours together, but if you do that the colour it gives is actually really silvery – does anyone want a silvery face? Maybe they do, but not me! I wear it as a highlight and try to kind of use a smaller brush to only get the pink of the blusher. I almost think it’s worth buying it just to look at it!

Solar Powder Bronzer

First thing first – I LOVE the packaging of this bronzer. I’m a sucker for anything with hidden compartments, and this comes with a mirror and a handy brush (I just don’t see the point of a bronzer compact without a mirror!) It’s just gorgeous. It basically consists of a bronzer and a highlight. The bronzer reminds me of Benefits’ Hula – it’s a perfect non-shimmery brown. You can then add highlights with the other side. It’s a great combination. You need to apply quite a lot of this to get a decent colour, but beyond that I love this product.

Eye Products

Smoulder Kohl Eyeliners

I had the black kohl eyeliner first and lost it (I chronically lose eyeliners because I always take them with me on nights out and they’re so little, I guess they easily drop to the floor in crowded bars…) and I replaced it, and bought the brown version at the same time. Reason? These are the best pencil eyeliners in the world (according to moi). I used to think all pencil eyeliners were pretty similar and I mostly bought Rimmel, because they were cheap. How wrong I was…no longer do I have to tug at my delicate eye area to get a decent line. The pigmentation on these is unbelievable. If that wasn’t good enough…they have pencil sharpeners in their lids! How often have you been stuck because your eyeliner was blunt and you didn’t have a sharpener with you? No more. And they’re only £5! The black is so black it almost looks like liquid, but you get all the control of a pencil. If you buy one thing from the line, buy these eyeliners – you won’t regret it.

Arch de Triumph Eyebrow Filler and Highlighter

I hate my eyebrows (I got them from my dad – of all the gifts he’s bestowed upon me, this is perhaps the one I’d most like to politely return) so anything that claims to tame them is fine by me. This pencil, however, has just never worked for me…it’s actually quite sharp, to the point where it’s almost unpleasant, and I can’t seem to blunt it down! The highlighter, on the other hand, is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for your inner eyes if you’re in a rush, because it gives excellent precision.

Lid Stuff Eyeshadow Palette

There are three different versions of these; mine is called ‘Off The Wallflower’ and contains the colours Sugar Violet, Minky, Dandy Plum and Wild Blue. The pigmentation is nice – not amazing, but decent, and buildable. It’s a decent palette with lovely colours – not mind blowing but not bad for the money.

Overall, I’ve been pleasantly surprised to find that Soap & Glory have managed to produce a really solid make up line with some good products, and I’m looking forward to trying more! Have any of you tried any of their make up? What did you think of it?
