My Hen Do – Part 2

We woke up surprisingly early on Saturday and everyone piled into my room, onto the double bed, talking and laughing and drinking coffee for ages before we finally got up for a breakfast of croissants, scrambled eggs and bacon.

How best to exercise that off? Well how about in our own private swimming pool!

I haven’t laughed as hard in years as I did that morning watching my friend Fiona trying and failing to climb out of the pool, or at our attempts to take a good photo with Lili’s self-timing camera! We played volleyball, did handstands and generally messed about until it was time to get out, shower, and await the beautician!

I had my nails painted a gorgeous Tiffany blue, my sister had a manicure and the others had massages.

Unfortunately around about this time I started to feel a bit under the weather. I had a lie down and some paracetamol and recovered enough to watch a few episodes of Dinner Date downstairs!

My sister and my friends put on an amazing buffet spread and we all got stuck in.

At first I’d thought my ill feeling was just a delayed hangover, but as I was getting ready for our night out it slowly dawned on me that I was feeling really ill. I was really upset but realised there was no way I could manage the 30 minute mini bus ride into Bath. My sister and friends could not have been more lovely about it and promised me we’d have an amazing evening anyway!

We played Mr and Mrs, where my sister had got Ian to answer some questions to which I had to guess the answers (and can I just say, she didn’t need to know the answers to a lot of them – let alone asking my DAD to print them out!) so now my friends know my embarrassing nickname for Ian – so that’s good!

As you may be aware my nickname is Cat, so they all dressed up as 'Cat's Cats' for the night in cat ears - I had white bridal ones, yay!

Then we ended up back in the local pub across the road! At this point, the wine I had been pathetically sipping started to kick in (thank god) and I began to feel a bit better!

We played a hilarious game of Truth and I now know a lot of things about my friends that I might be better off not knowing…

And then we went back to the house and had a giant dance party. On top of that, one of my friends got fed up with the  Camembert in the fridge and buried it outside – then LOST it, causing one of the funniest moments of the night!

It wasn’t the night we had planned but ultimately, everybody was able to talk loads, I laughed till my sides hurt (turtles having sex, shouting for Nathaniel and so on) and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. PLUS, my friends are now saying that as we didn’t get to use the Dare cards they bought (wouldn’t really have been fair on the ONE FARMER in the pub) we can have a second hen night – a cheesy night out in London. Two hen parties? Well, why not?!

The next day, having essentially drunk through a sick bug, I really did feel awful and I suffered all day – but it was COMPLETELY worth it. My friends and my sister did an amazing job – they should be hen party organisers – and I love them all so much!
