A couple of weeks ago my friend asked me if I had any ideas for a 30th birthday party for his girlfriend, one of my best friends. As I mentioned here, we spent her actual birthday on the beautiful island of Mykonos - but when you're 30, you need to party! He had about 15-20 people and wanted a venue in central London where we could have some privacy, but also have a big night out, without breaking the bank. Did I know anywhere?
As it happened, I did! The Blues Kitchen in Shoreditch has a camper van inside it which you can hire out as your own private ‘room’ within a club. For up to 25 people, you can attach your phone and play your own music, order drinks and food and the only catch is there’s a minimum spend of £400.
Which, can I just say, was not an issue for us.
It’s so much fun – the waitress service was great, so we didn’t need to go to the bar, and we could play our own music all night. We ordered platters of food which were a really good size – we got meat and veggie, which provided some good variety and tasted great too. Several rounds of prosecco later, we started on the Jaeger bombs. No more photos now. It's for the best, trust me.
We hired out the campervan from 4-10pm and then afterwards watched one of the live bands performing that night – they were great and we all danced into the early hours. If you’re looking for a venue in London for a birthday I couldn’t recommend it more! I realise this post sounds sponsored but it 100% wasn’t (when we saw our bar bill at the end I wish it had been, trust me!)
