On 1st November 2016, at 5.11am, after a long and intense labour, my sister brought little baby Alexander Digby Gordon into the world, weighing an impressive 10lb 5oz, and capturing everyone’s hearts immediately. (As well as making sure that my husband’s birthday – also the 1st November – would become a bit secondary forevermore!)
I’ve never felt such a rush of love towards anything before, and although I knew I would love him, it was entirely unexpected. Obviously, being me, I’ve had a really unpleasant flu for the last few weeks, so I haven’t been able to give him all the cuddles I would like to for fear of making him ill. But I did manage a quick hold at the weekend! And the Winnie the Pooh I bought him has been looking after them for me!
Baby Alex had an infection to start with, so he and my sister were in hospital until the weekend, when they were finally allowed home. I am completely obsessed and bug my sister constantly for photos and snapchat updates of what he’s doing (even though it is primarily sleeping or eating!) and I can’t wait to go home again when I’m finally feeling a bit better for proper snuggles with my nephew!
Well done Sarah and Paul, I’m so proud of you both, you will be the best parents and I love you and baby Alex more than you could ever know.
