10 Friday Favourites

It's my second week in a new job this week, which is - well, it's the week you actually start doing the work, isn't it? I don't want to jinx anything this early on (literally crossing my fingers/touching wood RN as I am so insanely superstitious) but I am really enjoying it so far! This weekend we are going to see the UK's Strongest Man competition with my husband's family which I am SO excited about - I know that might not sound like a very 'me' thing to do, but we watch the World's Strongest Man competition every Christmas and it's become a little tradition and I love it! Cannot wait to see Eddie 'The Beast' Hall in action.

Probably enough rambling so here are the things I have been doing/loving/lusting over this week...

1. Peaky Blinders - I KNOW. I know that if I find and rave about one more TV show 58726161 light years after everybody else, you may well give up on me. You might as well go and get your recommendations from an old 'What's on TV' magazine (I used to LOVE those FYI - what a weirdo) from 2013. But, for those of you who have been inhabiting another planet, Peaky Blinders is brilliant and I finally understand why people find Cillian Murphy attractive (having previously only seen him in 28 Days Later I was a bit baffled).

2. Going on a couple of decent runs this week, FINALLY going a bit further than 5k and not feeling too bad for it.

3. Making a veggie kiev and eating it with spaghetti hoops and chips for dinner because sometimes, when work is stressful and the weather is terrible and you've just run more than 5k in the cold, it's comforting to eat children's food for dinner.

4. Staring at this dress by Erdem - I DREAM about this dress. Obviously I am not going to buy it because it is the cost of a small car and I haven't lost my mind entirely, but just LOOK AT IT. Imagine wearing it in the summer and floating about in gold sandals with wavy hair and a tan and seriously, the high street need to make a version of this for one millionth of the cost RN.

5. Going for an impromptu date night (which means Nandos and wine basically) with my husband on a Wednesday night for no real reason.

6. Listening to this beautiful recording of David Remnick interviewing David Attenborough about Blue Planet II. Just their voices alone make this worth listening to, as well as the first two minutes where David Attenborough fusses about with his headset. 18 lovely minutes.

7. Using the Pureology Perfect 4 Platinum shampoo and conditioner - this is a little bit more expensive than the regular shampoo and conditioner I buy but honestly, the difference is amazing. My hair (like everything else in this never-ending January) has been feeling really dry and lifeless,  but this just makes it feel like silk, and it makes the blonde lighter and brighter without drying it out further. It's just absolutely gorgeous - fully recommend.

8. Alexa Chung's Instagram - Alexa Chung is basically my dream girl  at all times (I've gone on about this before so won't again but just so you know) but lately I am so obsessed with her Instagram and Instagram stories that it's probably a little bit stalker-y. I want every single item from her new clothing line - really recommend you check it out.

9. Imperial Lather Cherry Bakewell bubble bath - from one extreme to the other, but honestly, this costs £1.40 and has made me so happy this week - who doesn't want to smell like a Mr Kipling cake?

10. The following songs: 'The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness' by the National, The Flaming Lips cover of 'I Can't Get You Out Of My Head,' and 'Love the One You're With' by Crosby, Stills & Nash.

That is all. Have a lovely weekend people!

  1. So glad to hear you're enjoying your new job! I hope it continues to go really well for you :) I've managed to beat my PB for a 5k run this week so I'm really happy too! xx
